Title III Program Spotlight: The William R & Norma B Harvey Library
At the William R.& Norma B. Harvey Library, students are granted an elevated working space, thanks to Title III. Under the leadership of Dr. Tina Rollins, Library Director, Title III has supported conferences and professional development opportunities for students, faculty, and staff across campus. One of the library’s notable initiatives is the Graduate Assistantship Program, which provides six fully funded positions through Title III. This allows graduate students to pursue their store-1, conduct daily library operations, and mentor undergraduate students. As graduates and undergraduates continue their studies, they can fully access e-books and research databases for free.
Title III also funds faculty and staff to attend major professional development events such as the Virginia Library Association and the American Library Association conference. These experiences strengthen their knowledge in information literacy, customer service, and research support. Creating a specialized experience for students who may seek help in specific majors and minors. As of recently, Title III contributed to the library renovations, such as updated furniture, new desktops, and expanded study spaces.
Looking towards the future, Dr. Rollins envisions continuous upgrades to upper levels, more student-based events, improved restrooms and hydration stations, and an expanded collection of popular print titles. As the growth continues, the William R. & Norma B. Harvey Library remains a vital hub for research, collaboration, and innovation at Hampton University.
